Now in its fourth generation, the AUDI A3 SPORTBACK is a sought-after five-door mid-size car. Based on the same MQB platform as the Seat Leon, Skoda Octavia and Volkswagen Golf (the four brands are in the same industrial group), the car retains similar proportions and dimensions to its predecessor. The lines, however, are more sculpted and muscular, with very prominent wings and an angular front end dominated by the large grille. The LED headlights (standard) are also offered in a matrix version: 15 light diodes create different light effects depending on the trim. The passenger compartment is well made and spacious, with a dashboard with a strong style (characterised by the two 'climate' vents immediately to the sides of the dashboard) and the console slightly oriented towards the driver. The instrumentation is a 10.3" or 12.3" display (the latter with configurable graphics). In the centre of the dashboard is the 10.1" touch screen of the multimedia system, which can dialogue with the Amazon Alexa voice assistant: among other things, it allows remote control of the house lights (if fitted). The engines are brilliant, including the 110 bhp three-cylinder turbo petrol, and driving the Audi A3 Sportback is intuitive and pleasant. The quick and smooth S tronic dual-clutch robotized gearbox is good.
