The third generation of the German manufacturer's mid-size SUV does not betray the successful formula of its predecessors, which blend elegance with sportiness. The BMW X3 is offered in a number of versions, including the electric iX3 and the rechargeable 30e hybrid, as well as the M versions tuned by the company's sports department. Particularly pleasing are the 3.0 straight-six, petrol, light hybrid and diesel. Regardless of the engine chosen, the BMW X3 is comfortable (spacious cabin) and drives with pleasure (precise steering, not too much roll), especially with electronically controlled suspension (standard for the iX3, optional for the others). Relative to the high price, however, the standard equipment could be even more generous. The carefully finished cabin follows that of other BMWs: it has an austere look, an elaborate dashboard and is largely customisable. Among the few oversights are the lack of height adjustment for the seatbelt attachment and pockets in the doors that lack noise-reducing cladding. The boot is roomy, equipped with a double bottom and with a loading sill not too far from the ground.
